"Green" machines

The nature here in South Carolina is amazing. We have really become more one with nature since our move. We have slowly started to make some changes to a "greener" life. We recently started purchasing organic products through a group at John's work. We are really happy with the products and they are actually cheap!

Our most recent adventures have us working on lessening the chemicals in our home. We started with the cleaning products for counters and such. We basically use baking soda and vinegar for everything!

Surface Cleaning - Vinegar and water in a spray bottle
Drains - Baking soda down drain followed by a vinegar wash
Tough Sticky stains - baking soda mixed with a little water to make a paste
Carpet - Baking soda
Dish Soap - We are using Seventh Generation soaps

That's about it. I really haven't used all those products I use to use and my house is just as clean.

Hey lady, love the blog. :) You should check out the book Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean. The author, Linda Cobb, used to work for a disaster clean-up agency and she has all kinds of cleaning tips, many of which are environmentally friendly. Including the 4 basic ingredients you should have on hand to make your own, homemade, cleaning products. And yes, white vinegar is def. one of them. My favorite tip: Cleaning hardwood floors using tea. :)
